West Point Lighthouse Museum
The West Point Lighthouse is valued for its age, construction method and for its associations with the marine history of the area, its importance to its community and its role as a tourist destination. Construction of the West Point Lighthouse began in 1875 by contractors Mugridge and Company of Shediac, New Brunswick very likely to federal Department of Marine plans. This was the first lighthouse built in Prince Edward Island by the federal government following Confederation in 1873 and is therefore associated with the transfer of responsibility of navigational aids from colonial government to the federal Department of Marine. The lighthouse became operational in May 1876 with William "Lighthouse Willie" MacDonald as first keeper. MacDonald held the post until 1925 when he was succeeded by the only other person to serve as lighthouse keeper, Bennie MacIsaac, until the light's automation in 1963. West Point Lighthouse is the tallest square tapered tower on PEI and stands 67' 8" tall. The square tapered design is a departure from earlier lighthouses which were largely octagonal in design. Originally painted white with red bands, the red was changed to black in 1915 for greater visibility. The lighthouse keepers quarters were demolished in 1963, however were rebuilt in 1983-1984 by the West Point Development Corporation to develop the site as a tourist destination. Further site developments in 1987 and 2010 have added to the success of the property which includes a museum, tourist accommodation. The restaurant was relocated to the West Point

North Point Light station
A long, rocky reef, purported to be the longest in North America, extends seaward from the northeast tip of Prince Edward Island for roughly 2.4 km (1.5 miles) and marks the dividing point between the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Northumberland Strait. The following report issued in 1834 was likely the first formal call for a lighthouse on North Cape to mark this navigational hazard.

Black Marsh Nature Trail
The Black Marsh Nature Trail is 5.5km return and is marked by twenty-five bilingual interpretive panels describing points of interest in more detail. The trail winds through a wind-blown forest, along the red capes, and across a vast bog. You can walk under a giant whirring windmill, with a tower height of 80 metres and sense its great power. You will see seabirds, dragonflies, and butterflies and maybe catch a glimpse of an eagle soaring. Walk slowly and look closely as you cross the bog boardwalk. There are tiny and uncommon plants in this area, including beautiful orchids and carnivorous plants. The ecology of the area is distinct and rugged, but most of all captivating. You will see Elephant Rock as it stands today and learn more about the geology that both created and destroyed this natural landmark. Check out the North Cape Lighthouse, important historically because it warned of the often hidden rock reef. Put on your hiking boots and grab your binoculars – there is something new around every bend.

Royal Star Foods Fish Mart
We are a prime and innovative processor of Atlantic lobsters in various forms for both retail and food service. Our brand, Atlantic Star – Star of the Sea, is a well respected, world renowned brand due to its consistency in high quality. Over the past 88 years, we have gained a reputation throughout the world as an example of people working together for the success of our industry. Through our long history, we owe our success to good management, loyal and skilled employees, and the persistence of the fishers to keep up to date on changes in the industry. Being cooperatively owned by 230 fishers, our quality products begin at sea. All of our lobsters are wild caught Atlantic lobster that are fished in the clear, unpolluted waters surrounding PEI, in the North West Atlantic. Immediately after being removed from the lobster trap, their claws are bound with elastic bands so they do not injure one another. They are then placed in ice, covered and delivered to the wharf where our facility is located. The larger lobsters, known as markets, are graded by weight then set in refrigerated holding tanks for a minimum of 50 hours. This not only purges the vein in their tails but also lowers their stress level. After the waiting period, these lobsters are then distributed to restaurants and stores for purchase. The smaller lobsters, known as canners, enter the 125,000 sq ft processing facility and are processed into one of many value added specialty products. We are committed to customer satisfaction by providing a premium quality product.
